The sheer enjoyment of flying a kite has been with us for a thousands of years, learning to harness and control that power is why we are love to fly our kites.
Some of our high performance kites are capable of generating tremendous amounts of raw power. It must always be remembered that our sport can be dangerous and lead to serious injury, however kiting is generally fun and safe by just following some simple rules:
- Never undertake unnecessary risks. Enjoy your kiting and be safe.
- Never underestimate the power of the wind, especially the higher you fly.
- Read and fully understand the product instructions and safety information.
- As a beginner, learn to fly in light winds and build up your confidence and skills.
- Where appropriate, wear safety equipment.
- Always observe local rules and byelaws before flying.
- Never fly in high winds that are too strong for your ability or kite equipment.
- In strong winds, launch at the edge of the wind zone.
- Before flying, check all your equipment for wear and tear.
- Most important- DO NOT fly near overhead power cables, telephone lines,
Trees, roads, railways, cars or in extreme weather conditions.
- Never fly at night.
- Never attach yourself to anything while flying your kite or use power kites for paragliding or parascending.
- Test the kite safety system on your first flight and use it if your feel you’re losing control.
- Always select a safe launching area free of people, animals and obstacles.
- In the UK NEVER fly above 30metres in “Aerodrome traffic zone” or 60 metres elsewhere (See our “Kite Flying Legislation” section for more details)
